Maxine's Recipe
Beef - 1 1/2 pounds
Water - 9 cups
Beef bouillon cubes - 3
Celery - 4 stalks
Onions - 2 medium (chopped)
Tomato Soup - 1 can
Water - 1 can
Frozen Mixed Vegetables - 1 16-20oz bag
*Potatoes - 2 potatoes (cubed) or Noodles - 3-4 tablespoons or Barley - 3-4 tablespoons
Brown beef in greased dutch oven
Add water and bouillon, bring to boil, reduce to medium heat, and cook until meat is done.
Add in celery and onions, cook until soft
Add tomato soup can, a can of water (to clean out tomato soup can), frozen vegetables, and cook until veggies are soft (30 minutes)
Add potatoes or noodles, or barley and cook for an additional 30 minutes. *Maxine uses 2 potatoes and noodles or 3-4 tablespoons of barley and noodles.
The longer and slower you cook the soup, the better. It usually takes about 3.5-4 hours.
